WHEREAS,
in 1988 the Red Ribbon Campaign was started by the National
Federation of Parents to call attention to the alcohol and drug
problem. Rather than focus solely on alcohol and drugs, the
campaign now tries to promote a variety of healthy activities to
strengthen individuals, families, and their communities, and
St. Mary/St. Patrick's School, as part of the Holy Family Catholic
School system, is dedicated to teaching kids not only how to say
no to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, but also how to make
healthy choices so they grow up to be the best that they can be;
and
WHEREAS, St. Mary/St. Patrick's will celebrate Red Ribbon Week with a
variety of activities throughout the school.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 23-31,
2001 AS:
"RED RIBBON WEEK"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
