Proof_City Council Proceedings 8 28 12CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS SPECIAL SESSION The City Council met in special session at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in Room 4 at the Grand River Center, 500 Bell Street. Present: Mayor Buol, Council Members Braig, Connors, Jones, Lynch, Resnick, Sutton, City Manager Van Milligen, City Attorney Lindahl Mayor Buol read the call and stated this is a special session of the City Council to conduct the annual City Council Goal Setting Session. CITY COUNCIL GOAL SETTING SESSION (2 of 2) Lyle Sumek, of Sumek and Associates, Heath- row, FL, facilitated the second session of the FY 2014 City Council's goal setting. Following discussion, the -City Council reached con- sensus on the following goals and priorities for 2012 -2018. 15 -YEAR VISION STATEMENT • The city of Dubuque is a progressive, sustainable city with a strong diversified economy and expand- ing global connections; • The Dubuque com- munity is an inclusive community celebrating culture and heritage and has •actively preserved our Master- piece on the Mississippi; • Dubuque, citizens experience healthy living and active retirement through quality, livable neigh- borhoods and an abundance of fun things to do and they are engaged in the community, achieving goals through partner- ships; and • Dubuque Cify govern- ment is . financially sound and providing services with citizens getting value for their tax dollars.
