Van Milligen, City Manager Disposal of City Property in response to a request from Robert J. VanderMuelen to purchase City property on Oneida Street, Finance Director Ken TeKippe states that the City has no plans for the utilization this lot, recommends the sale for a purchase price of $300, and that a public hearing be set for November 19, 2001. Van Milligen, City Manager Ken TeKippe, Finance Director Disposal of City Property INTRODUCTION This in response to a request from Robert J. VanderMeulen for the purchase of Lot 2-2-1-1-1-3 N 1/2 SE 1/4 NW 1/4 of Section 12, T89N, R2E, 5th P.M, Dubuque County, Iowa. DISCUSSION The attached sketch shows the subject lot. The abutting properties are owned by Larry Hurst on the north and VanderMeulen on the south. The area to be disposed of was originally part of a 60-foot wide lot subdivided for the extension of Oneida Street when it was in the County. Oneida Street was never extended; and consequently, the northerly 50 was disposed of to the property owner to the north (Hurst). The remaining southerly 10 feet had never been transferred to the property owner to the south (VanderMeulen). Upon review of a building permit for an addition to Mr. VanderMeulen's residence, it became evident that existing improvements and the building addition encroached onto this lO-foot wide lot owned by the City of Dubuque. Mr. VanderMeulen has agreed to a purchase price of $300.00, plus filing of publication fees. RECOMMENDATION The City has no plans for the utilization of the lot. I would recommend that a public hearing be set for the disposition of the City's interest in Lot 2-2-1-1-1-3 N 1/2 SE 1/4 NW 1/4 of Section 12, T89N, R2E, 55h P.M., Dubuque County, Iowa area on November 19, 2001. I would further recommend that the purchase price be established at $300.00, plus platting, publication, and filing fees. ACTION TO BE TAKEN The recommendation of the City Manager should be approved and a public hearing should be scheduled on the disposal of the property through adoption of the enclosed resolutions.
