Duggan and Members of the City Council October 26, 2001 Claim Against the City by Kevin Felderman Date of Claim Date of Loss 8/14/01 7/26/01 Nature of Claim Property Damage This is a claim in which the claimant states that while walking through the Iowa Street parking ramp, his pants and briefcase came into contact with wet paint. According to the report of Cindy Steinhauser, Parking Systems Manager/Assistant City Manager, the Parking Division maintenance record indicates that a painting project was being done in the ramp and that "wet paint" signs were not posted to caution patrons. Therefore, it is her recommendation that this claim be approved for payment. The Legal Department concurs in this recommendation. Discussion On August 12, a claim was filed by Mr. Felderman for paint damage to his bdef case and suit pants while parking his vehicle in the Iowa Street ramp. According to the parking division maintenance record, painting was being done in this facility on the date of the incident without wet paint signs posted to caution patrons. Recommend Based upon the above information I recommend that Mr. Felderman's claim be approved. Attachment
