SPECIAL SESSION

AFFIDAVIT OF COMPLIANCE: Staff presented an Affidavit of Compliance verifying
the meeting was being held in compliance with the Iowa Open Meetings Law.
CALL TO ORDER: Vice Chairperson Guinn called the meeting to order at 12:10 p.m.
TOUR OF STACKIS WOODWORKING SHOP: Chariie Glab conducted a tour of the
facility. Mr.. Glab discussed the history of the building and noted that the building is
currently being used as a woodworking shop and as a metal shop. Mr. Glab
demonstrated how wood knives ara created from a template.
The Commission then proceeded to the lobby area, where Mr. Glab presented a line of
products available through the woodworking shop. He discussed the process of making
paneled wooden doors. He noted that the doors are not constructed out of solid wood;
instead, they are created out of layers of wood to help drive down the cost and weight of
the door.
The Commission then proceeded to the woodworking shop area where Mr. Glab
described the various types of machinery that the employees use daily. He explained
the process of creating an arch and the machinery, which cuts crown molding.
The Commission then proceeded to the painting/varnishing area. Mr. Glab and the
employees explained the process of varnishing. This concluded the tour. The
Commission thanked Mr. Glab for providing them with the tour.
ADdOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 1:20 p.m.
