Minutes Civil Service 01 11 16 CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION Date: Wednesday, November 16, 2001 Time: 4:00 p.m. Place of Meeting: City Hall - Conference Room A Present: Chairperson Merle Duehr, Commissioner Loras Kluesner; Commissioner Dick Wertzberger Also Present: Personnel Manager Randy Peck, Pat Ostrander, and John Rosenthal m B Approve Minutes of October 2 and October 16, 2001 Commissioner Wer[zberger moved to approve the minutes of October 2, 2001 and October 16, 2001. Seconded by Kluesner, passed unanimously. Request to Schedule Entrance Exam for the Position of Stock Clerk and Communications from Randy Peck and Dave Baker Regarding the Rules for the Exam Commissioner Wertzberger moved to receive and file the communications. Seconded by Kluesner, passed unanimously. Personnel Manager Randy Peck stated it was the City's position that the test be open to all regular employees and the general public in order to obtain a larger base from which to certify a list of up to forty individuals. John Rosenthal explained that when the test was initially given, there was an agreement between the City and the union that the exam would be for current City employees only and it was their position that this agreement was still in effect. Union Steward Pat Ostrander submitted a list of eight current City employees from Utility Billing who were interested in taking the Civil Service exam for Stock Clerk and she reiterated that the exam should be for current employees only. After discussion Commissioner Wertzberger moved that the entrance exam for the position of Stock Clerk be limited to current City employees, that the deadline for applications be November 30, 2001 at 5:00 p.m., and that the test be conducted on December 18, 2001 at 6:30 p.m. at a location to be determined. Seconded by Kluesner, passed unanimously. Equipment Operator II - Add Jeff Steuer and Michael Basten to Certified List Commissioner Kluesner moved to add employees Jeff Steuer and Michael Basten to the certified list for the position of Equipment Operator II. Seconded by Wertzberger, passed unanimously. Request to Schedule Entrance Exam for the Position of Public Safety Dispatcher Commissioners Kluesner moved that the entrance exam for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher be limited to current City employees, that the deadline for application be November 27, 2001 at 5:00 p.m., and that the exam be conducted at 6:30 p.m., on December 11, 2001, at a place to be determined.
