Narrative Description: Style/Year: 1 4/2 Story, Broad Front-Gable Duplex built in circa 1890. The front facade features a symmetrical fenestration. There are two windows located in the front gable. A hipped-roof,framed, enclosed, front porch with entries on the north and south side spans across the entire length of the structure. A 20'W x 20' L one-story, gable-roof addition is attached to 2446 Washington and a 9' W x 18' L one-story, shed-roof addition is attached to 2242 Washington Street. Name of Property County 2442-46 Washington Street Dubuque Address City Landscaping Notes: The subject property is comprised of two 25 ft wide by 100 ft deep lots (2,500 sq ft in area). The lots are level and elevated approximately two feet above the grade of Washington Street. There is a public walk across the front of the lot. Private sidewalks/steps lead from the public walk to both front porch entries and the entries to both rear additions. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: This property and the surrounding neighborhood were evaluated as part of an In-depth Architectural and Historic Survey conducted by Jim Jacobsen of History Pays! in 2002. The property at that time was not identified as National Register Eligible. Although 12 years have passed since the in-depth survey, the property is still not National Register Eligible. The structure has asbestos siding (main house and 2446 rear addition), aluminum siding (2442 rear addition), soffit/fascia/window casings have been wrapped with aluminum, front porch has been modified and two additions have been added to the rear of the building. The property retains little architectural integrity.
