7. Narrative Description:
Style/Year: 1 '/2 Story, Cross-Gable House built post-1872/pre-1891 . A shed-roof, framed, enclosed,
front porch addition (built 1951)with a side entry facing to the south side property line is located to the
right of the front gable. A one-story, gable-roof,framed addition extends off of the rear of the building.
This rear addition is flanked by a one-story,framed, open porch. An exterior concrete block chimney is
located on the back of the rear addition and extends from the ground level through the roof line.
Arched 2 over 2 wood windows are located in the gable-ends of the building and 50's era casement
windows are located in the enclosed front porch addition. The soffit,fascia and window and door
casings have been wrapped with aluminum. The structure has been covered with double-4 inch white
vinyl siding.

Landscaping Notes:
The subject property is located on the southeast corner of the intersection of 25th and Washington
Streets. The lot is 50 ft wide by 100 ft deep (5,000 sq ft in area). The lot is level. There are public
sidewalks located along both street frontages. A private sidewalk leads from the public sidewalk along
Washington Street to the entrance and a side porch located on the south façade of the building.
The property is bordered to the west by Washington Street, to the north by 25th Street, to the east by an
alley and to the south by a vacant lot.
8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
This property and the surrounding neighborhood were evaluated as part of an In-depth Architectural
and Historic Survey conducted by Jim Jacobsen of History Pays! in 2002. The property at that time
was not identified as National Register Eligible. Although 12 years have passed since the in-depth
survey, the property is still not National Register Eligible. The structure has vinyl siding, the
soffit/fascia/window& door casing have been wrapped with aluminum, a concrete block chimney has
been added and the front porches have been modified with an addition. The property retains little
architectural integrity.
