7. Narrative Description:
This two-story gable-front brick single-family residence fronts southeast onto East 22nd Street. The
plan consists of a higher rectangular core (18 feet wide by 27 feet in depth), a subordinated two-story
rear wing (west sidewall set flush with the front west side wall) (13 feet square), a single-story rear
addition (13 feet wide, six feet deep), and a rear east side stoop entry (four feet square). A brick
chimney is centered on the plan at the back of the second two-story section. Fenestration is
symmetrical. The facade is three bays in width with a left-hand side entrance with transom. Windows
are narrow 2/2 with soldier brick arches on the facade and semi-circular rowlock arches on the side
windows. The stone foundation is elevated by two courses of stone and there is a front basement
window. There is a smaller centered front attic light. Originally there was a centered east wall chimney
now capped off at the roof level. The in-wall flue is indicated by the absence of centered windows on
that sidewall. The basement has a 5.5 foot high ceiling.
