Narrative Description: This is a narrow two-story frame gable front residence (16x58, 928 square feet per level) with a short attached side porch at the southeast corner. The foundation is of stone and the exterior is now aluminum siding likely over composition shingle. There are eight rooms (four bedrooms). The entryway is left of center and there is no porch. The plan has a centered brick chimney on the ridgeline. A larger window on the facade balances with two windows above, placed center bay or right of center. Side fenestration is minimal, with two sets of windows vertically aligned. The entry stoop measures five feet square. There is a side porch at the back of the south sidewall (16 feet long, 8 feet deep) and a rear centered porch, six feet long by eight feet in width. A 16 feet by 18 feet shed is noted on early assessor records. At that time the owner occupied the ground floor, and tenant lived upstairs. There was a smaller On footprint) 1.5-story frame house on this lot as of 1891 and it was the only house on this side of Kniest Street, below Division/Lincoln Avenue. It is possible that this earlier house was enlarged to the present one. This was#86 Kniest as of 1891/190911915 and #100 Kniest as of 1918 (Carl Batteram).
