7. Narrative Description:
This is a narrow two story gable front frame residence (16.6 feet by 42.6 feet, 701 square feet
per level). There was a single-story rear addition (15 feet deep by 14 feet wde) with an east-facing
sideporch, with a concrete block garage between the rear wing and alley (16 feet wide by 7 feet deep).
A very recent alteration removed these rear elements and extended the two-story house core to the
south. There is an east side second-story wooden porch and stairway. The foundation is of stone.
The plan contains two bedrooms and a total of seven rooms. The house has lost its porch (16 feet
wide by five feed deep) and has been resided.

8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
The Assessor dates this building to +/- 1890. The 1891 Sanborn shows a simple two-story
rectangular plan and by 1909 this has been extended south with an east side porch. The east wall of
the porch projects slightly beyond the main east wall plane. The 1891 Sanborn also shows a gas enine
and housing in the backyard, indicating some industrial site usage. By 1936 another rear addition
extended the house to the alley. The house is addressed as 720/722 Rhomberg as of 1891, and as
516 Rhomberg by 1909.
Agnes Specht was here as of 1921.
