Narrative Description: This two-story frame side-gable duplex pre-dates 1891 and first appears (1891) with separate front corner porches. By 1909 the current porch was in place and by 1950 a rear full-width porch had been added. Two outbuildings of equal size are first shown (1891) as placed together on the center line of the lot but by 1909 they are reoriented north and south and remained on the property as late as 1964. An early Assessor's card for 2265 (c.1950s-70) gives the shed dimension as 14 feet by ten feet, with no reference to the shed at 2263 Prince. The two halves of this duplex are a perfect contrast of preservation and change. The south half retains its original Italianate style 2/2 windows and round window hoods, and its clapboard exterior, with no additions. The north half has morphed into a modern house with new siding, window alterations and a very large and exotic rear two-story addition. The commonality is the shared early centered porch, with turned columns. The porch is 20 feet long and five feet deep. The shared front core is 32 feet in width and 24 feet in depth. The centered rear wing measures 22 feet by 12 feet in depth. The south half retains its recessed rear corner side porch (12 feet long, four feet wide) and there is an enclosed rear porch (10 feet long by 14 feet wide). The north half has its two-story rear addition (12 feet long, 11 feet wide which likely extends north above a second north side porch (12 feet long, five feet wide). The original corner porch (12 feet long, five feet wide) apparently remains in place. The fagade fenestration is largely intact, with the addition of a smaller window on the north half above the door. Stairways are centered on this plan. The entrances are centered on the plan and retain their original transom and semi-circular hoods. As noted the south windows retain their matching hoods and the downstairs windows have their original sash. North side wall fenestration is minimal. Brick chimneys are at each end of the ridgeline. The rear addition on the north half has a wrap-around deck and balustrade. There is a double garage behind 2265 Prince Street.
