ARTS AND CULTURAL AFFAIRS ADVISORY COMMISSION
October 21, 2014
Lacy Board Room, Carnegie-Stout Library
The meeting was called to order by Chair Sue Reidel at 4:37 p.m. following
staff assurance of compliance with the Iowa Open Meeting Law.
Commissioners present: Ellen Henkels, Katherine Kluseman, Sue Reidel,
Marina O'Rourke and Jessica Teckemeyer.
Staff present: Anderson Sainci, Megan Starr and Maurice Jones
Commissioners absent: Julie Steffen, Gina Seigert
APPROVAL OF MINUTES of September 30th, 2014: Henkels made a motion,
second by O'Rourke to receive and file the minutes. Motion carried 5-0.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Arts and Culture Master Plan Update
Jones passed out a final draft of the RFP and requested that
commissioners submit any final changes by November 4th. Teckemeyer
suggested the RFP be sent to the College Art Association. A final draft of
the RFP will be sent out to Commissioners prior to the November meeting
2. Discuss operational support grant application and recommendations
for changes
Starr presented potential changes to both the operational and special
projects grant application. Starr will send commissioners an updated
draft of the applications prior to the November meeting.
ITEMS FROM COMMISION
1. IPAN Conference Feedback
Kluseman expressed her enthusiasm for the IPAN conference and
applauded the event as a great success.
2. Temporary Public Art Funding
Kluseman shared information about the Bloomberg Temporary Public Art
Challenge. Starr explained the Mayor has offered his support for the "All
America City Plaza" project.
3. Arts and Humanities Month Proclamation
O'Rourke reported that she accepted the Arts and Humanities month
proclamation at the October 6th City Council meeting.
ADJOURNMENT —O'Rourke made a motion to adjourn, second by Kluseman.
