Dear Audience Members,
Welcome to the second annual Wonder Women celebration. We
are thrilled to celebrate three women who have worked hard
to make the community a better place. We hope that you leave
tonight feeling inspired to support women and girls in their quest
for leadership.
Each honoree was nominated because she has worked to make
the community a better place.Whether it was fostering chil-
dren, leading a group of Girl Scouts,or help build a museum and
landmark, they each have made a lasting impression in Dubuque.
Each woman had a very similar message—teamwork. No matter
how successful they are or whatever they took on,they did it with
the help of others. The message is loud and clear, that we are all
capable of greatness, but are so much greater together.
Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who
make the world a better place. This work is ever-important as girls
are faced with many challenges.Girl Scouts has made it our goal
to prepare girls and make them strong and resilient so they can
face the challenges of our world today and in the future.
Girls need to hear the stories of these accomplished women,
and know that they are not alone. They need your support. When
you invest in girls, you change the world.

Dedicated is the most appropriate word to describe
Carol Dornbush.Carol has worked for Medical Associates for 13
years, conserved local land with a soil and conservation district
for nine years, and has inspired local girls with Girl Scouts for eight
years.Despite being involved in so many outside organizations,
Carol is most dedicated to her family, spending any time outside
of work and volunteering with her husband,Kevin, and daughter,
Elizabeth.
"...be good role Carol was new to Girl Scouts when she took on
the task of being her daughter's troop leader.

n Carol's involvement in Girl Scouts gave her an
exactly like you. opportunity to spend time with her daughter
and meet other dedicated volunteers.Her
involvement as a leader eventually transformed into a Service
Unit Director for two years and a Fall Product and Cookie Manager
for one year.
Carol considers her father her hero, because he is strong,
confident,and a role model.Based on Carol's dedication to Girl
Scouts,it is clear she grew up to be a herojust like herfather.
Carol encourages adults to be good role models because
your children are going to be exactly like you."

a little better than you found it"to heart.Teri demonstrated this
motto as the leader of the America's River Campaign which led
to the creation of the National Mississippi River Museum and
Aquarium in Dubuque.Teri's service to the Dubuque community
continues in her position as the Assistant City Manager and as a
board member for the National Rivers Hall of Fame.

Nancy Van Milligen is one of those lucky women whose vocation is
her avocation. As President and CEO of the Community
Foundation of Greater Dubuque, she is able to work daily on her

Growth and Livable Communities.
Growing up,Nancy didn't wantto be a princess.Instead she was
compelled to serve others and run an orphanage. Her passion for
helping children has continued in her adult life as a foster parent
to multiple children."If there's room in the heart, there's room in
the home,"she says.Nancy believes that children are critical to
a community's success.
Like a true hero,Nancy doesn't take full credit for her
accomplishments."No one achieves Wonder Woman status
alone,"she said when referencing her team at the Community
Foundation. She believes everyone has the potential to be a hero,
and that is what makes her such an amazing role model for Girl
Scouts."If you dream it,if you work at it,you can do it.You can
be who you want to be!"
