Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to complete an online survey and/or attend a public input session on Wednesday, Aug. 19. The City of Dubuque began the process to develop an arts and culture master plan in April. The City’s Economic Development Department and the Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs is working with consultants from Lord Cultural Resources and have already completed the first phase of the process, a review of the current state of arts and culture in the community. The second phase is now under way and focuses on public engagement. “Community involvement in this phase of the planning process is essential to the creation of a comprehensive, customized master plan,” said Debra Alleyne, arts and cultural affairs coordinator. “We have a diverse community and a diverse arts community so it is important that we hear from residents and stakeholders as we create the plan.” Residents and stakeholders are invited to complete a brief online survey to share their thoughts on arts and culture in Dubuque. The link is accessible from www.cityofdubuque.org/artsandculture and the City’s arts and culture Facebook page, www.facebook.com/artsandcultureDBQ. Another way in which the community can participate is through attending a public workshop from 3 – 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the Holiday Inn’s Ben Bolt Room, 450 Main Street. In addition to this meeting and the online survey, several meetings with focus groups will be held to garner as many perspectives as possible.
