Dear Mr. Green,
Congratulations! The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded your water system with a
2014 Water Fluoridation Quality Award. This award recognizes water systems that adjust the fluoride
concentration in drinking water to achieve a monthly average fluoride level that is optimal for the prevention of
tooth decay for twelve consecutive months in a year. This is based on data submitted by water department staff
to the Iowa Department of Public Health and entered into CDC's Water Fluoridation Reporting System (WFRS).
The Iowa Department of Public Health encourages and supports water fluoridation as an important method of
improving and maintaining the oral health of Iowans. We greatly appreciate your continued commitment to
public health through water fluoridation and your outstanding performance as a water works system.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has listed water fluoridation as one of the ten greatest public
health achievements of the 20th century. The Iowa Department of Public Health is proud to present you with
this certificate and greatly appreciates your continued commitment to public health through water fluoridation.
