TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
FROM: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager
SUBJECT: Sustainable Dubuque Community Grant Program
DATE: October 14, 2015
In 2013, the City Council approved the Sustainable Dubuque Community Grant program
to catalyze community leaders in the Sustainable Dubuque initiative. The grants are
available to any residents, non-profits or businesses who propose a project that
addresses at least one of the twelve sustainability principles and includes an element of
community engagement or education in their project.
Two applications were received this quarter.
Sustainable Community Coordinator Cori Burbach and the Application Review
Committee recommend the following for funding:
Organization Project Amount
Heritage Works Historic Window Educational Model $21500
Total recommended funding is $2,500. One grantee from a previous round of funding
has declined their $500 grant, as other commitments have made it impossible to fulfill
their project as proposed. This will leave $13,050 in this fund. The next deadline for the
grant applications will be January 1, 2016.
1 concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.
