Van Milligen, City Ma e FROM: Gus Psihoyos, City Engineer _~ SUBJECT: Windsor Avenue Storm Sewer Extension Project (CIPs 7201351 & 7201066) DATE: February 20, 2008 INTRODUCTION The enclosed resolution authorizes the award of the construction contract for the Windsor Avenue Storm Sewer Extension Project. BACKGROUND The Windsor Avenue Storm Sewer Extension Project involves the installation of 815 feet of 42-inch storm sewer along Windsor Avenue to link the storm sewer installed with the construction of Burden Avenue with the existing 48-inch storm sewer at Sutter Street. The storm sewer will improve storm drainage along Windsor and the intersection of 22"d, Elm, and Kniest Street. BID RESULTS Sealed bids were received on the project on February 20, 2008. Connolly Construction, Inc., of Peosta, Iowa, submitted the low bid in the amount of $159,605.65. This amount is 9.85% under the engineer's estimate of probable cost. Whereas, said sealed proposals were opened and read on the 20th day of February, 2008 and it has been determined that Connolly Construction, Inc. of Peosta, Iowa, with a bid in the amount of $159,605.65, is the lowest responsive, responsible bidder for the Project. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: That a Public Improvement Contract for the Project is hereby awarded Connolly Construction, Inc. and the City Manager is hereby directed to execute a Public Improvement Contract on behalf of the City of Dubuque for the Project.
