RE: Claim Against the City of Dubuque by David J. Schroeder
Claimant Date of Claim Date of Loss Nature of Claim
David J. Schroeder 02/18/08 02/11/07 Vehicle Damage
This is a claim in which the claimant alleges that a City of Dubuque recycling truck struck
the driver's side mirror of claimant's vehicle which was parked in front of 2190 Stafford
Street.
According to the report of Paul Schultz, Solid Waste Management Supervisor, a City of
Dubuque recycling truck was turning from Providence Street onto Stafford Street and
struck the driver's side mirror of claimant's vehicle.
It is therefore the recommendation of Paul Schultz to approve this claim for the amount
of the submitted estimate of $48.84. The City Attorney's Office concurs with this
recommendation.

SUBJECT: Claim of David J. Schroeder
DATE: March 7, 2008
The claim and estimate is recommended to be approved as filed for $48.84.
David J. Schroeder submitted a claim alleging that on February 11, 2008, our
recycling truck #3415 cracked the glass in the mirror on the driver's side of his pickup truck.
His truck was parked in front of 2190 Stafford in very close quarters -vehicles on both
sides of the street pushed out from the curb due to accumulated snow windrows. Our truck
must have barely contacted his mirror in making the tight turn from Providence onto
Stafford at approximately 6:15 AM.
Immediately after the alleged accident occurred, Mr. Schroeder drove to the
Municipal Services Center and showed the mirror damage to Solid Waste Management
Supervisor Paul Schultz. No photo was taken because the camera was unavailable and
the damage was minor. Lead Sanitation Driver Dave Sitzmann discussed the alleged
accident with the recycling driver on that route. Dave confirmed the report of the driver's
difficulty in making that turn onto Stafford. However the recycling driver was unaware of
having impacted the pickup truck or caused any damage.
