and Urban Design, and City Fiscal goals and objectives of the Comprehensive Plan that support
the request.

Historic Federal Building and Sign
Commissioner Oswald questioned why the Long Range Planning Advisory Commission is

Chambers for their meetings. Commissioner Oswald voiced his concerns with the appearance
and cost of the monument sign, and asked whether any concerns were voiced to other
Commissioners about the sign. No other Commissioners had heard anything.
Alliant Energy Plant
Commissioner Prochaska asked how long the coal pile at Alliant Energy's Dubuque power plant
would be there. Chairperson Winterwood said it is contingent upon whether Alliant Energy is
able to construct a new coal-fired plant at Marshalltown, and whether the Dubuque plant would
convert to natural gas.
