MINUTES It was moved by Chuck Duggan, seconded by Tom Blocklinger, to approve the
APPROVED; minutes of the February 12, 2008, meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
VOTE:
APPROVE MENU Recreation Division Manager, Pat Prevenas, spoke with the commissioners
PRICE regarding the price increases for the 2008 BHGC snack bar. The City took
INCREASES AT over the operation in the year 2001.
THE GOLF
COURSE; VOTE: In viewing the 2004-2008 menu prices with the commissioners, it was noted
that back in 2004, we had an increase in the pricing of sandwiches and in
2005, we had an increase in the pricing of appetizers, baskets and some beer
and wine prices. For the year 2008, we are proposing to increase our
sandwich, basket and soft drinks (not fountain pop) 25 cents, as well as raise
the prices of beer and wine.
It was moved by G~ Harjehausen, seconded ~ Kim Daykin, to acce t the
increase of 25 cents in the rip cing of sandwiches, baskets, soft drinks not
fountain ~op~,,, as well as raise the rp ices of beer and wine for the 2008 Bunker
Hi11 Golf Course season. The motion assed ~ a vote of 5-1, with
Commissioner Du an opposing,
BOY SCOUT Will Neumeister present representing the Boy Scouts, asking to have the
REQUEST TO entrance fee to Eagle Point Park waived for persons attending their pancake
WAIVE breakfast on Mother's Day. This request is the same every year, and in
ENTRANCE FEE exchange for waiving the entrance fee, the scouts do a service project at Eagle
TO EAGLE POINT Point Park.
PARK; VOTE:
It was moved ~ Kim Daykin, seconded by Karen Lyness, to waive the
entrance fee to E_ axle Point Park on Mother's Day, May 11th, for anyone
attending the ~ Scout pancake breakfast. The motion ap ssed unanimously.
PARK DIVISION Park Division Manager Bob Fritsch updated commissioners:
REPORT: ~ Our budget has been impacted with the cost of salt, triple melt and over-time
expenses. A bill (approximately $27,000) will be sent to the Parking Division

for the expenses the Tree Crew had in removing the snow from the four (4)
parking ramps this past winter. • Department personnel are getting ready for
spring. We have a plan in place for Miller Riverview Park in the
expectation/preparation of any flooding. Within the next 2-3 weeks, we will be
taking out the electrical posts.
RECREATION Recreation Division Manager Pat Prevenas updated commissioners:
DIVISION • Forty-three teams are participating in the 2008 alumni basketball tournament
REPORT:
the weekends of March 14th and March 28th. • Twenty-three teams are
participating in the post-season adult basketball tournament. • The Summer
2008 brochure will be sent to the printer this week and distributed at our City
Expo on Tuesday, April 8. • Due to the inclement weather, we have had to
cancel/reschedule after-school basketball practices/games. • With the
extended school days until the end of the year, a new work schedule for our
After-School programs was issued to staff. • The Bunker Hill Golf Course Pro
Shop is closed the week of March 10th due to a death in George Stephenson's
family. • Loras College and the University of Dubuque will be utilizing the
fields at Veterans' Memorial Park for an intramural program.
OTHER Commissioner Nadeau shared the following two topics of discussion:
BUSINESS:
Telecommunication antenna facility in Madison Park. Iowa Wireless
Services, LLC, would like to lease space at Madison Park to install a flag
po{e/equipment compound which will serve as a wireless communication
facility.
Resolution for Pet Park.
It was moved ~ Eve1~ Nadeau, seconded by Karen Lyness, to issue a
statement that the Commission supports o~ those resolutions to the Pet Park
issue that are peaceful and lawful. The motion ap ssed ~ a vote of 3-1-2, with
Commissioner Du an opposing and Commissioners Blocklinger and
Harjehausen abstaining from the vote
ADJOURN; It was moved by Tom Blocklinger, seconded by Kim Daykin, that the meeting
VOTE: be adjourned at 5:00 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
