members present, except Harlan W. he already received one from the Plumbing board.
Board signed licenses for Brian Bales and Theodore Gabriel. They both took and passed
the Commercial Air Conditioning test from Prometric.
Discussion was held on the International Energy Conservation Code 2006. The Secretary
told the board that the City has adopted it as of March 2008. A copy of the pertinent
HVAC related sections were given to all board members present. The Secretary asked the
board members to review and give feedback. A question was asked about the zone for
commercial SA or SB? The Secretary will get the answer.
Discussion was held about Fireplace stoves not requiring a certified competent person to
install. The Secretary stated the ordinance states it does not require it. The board asked
why? The secretary will try to find out.
Discussion was also held on the fact that a certified competent person was not required to
install wood-burning fireplaces. The secretary stated that he did not know why but that
was currently what he was being told. The secretary was directed to obtain any
information, minutes of a past meeting etc. that might shed some light on this.
The topic of in-floor hydronic tubing was brought up by Bob Riesdorf. He stated that he
has been coming across jobs where he is being asked to hook up an appliance to tubing
that was installed by someone else. He was asking if anyone certified competent or not
could install the tubing and would that be okay by the city. The secretary responded that
the owner-occupant of a single family dwelling could but anyone else would be required
to be competent and every installation of tubing would require a permit. The board asked
that the secretary write a letter explaining the cities requirements and send it to all
Contractors.
Harlan Willenborg motioned to adjourn, seconded by Gary Hillard. Meeting adjourned at
