Subject: Snow removal proposal
(Councilwoman Conners - I am sending this to your email address as I tried
the other group emailing and it was returned to me as undeliverable. Can you
see that the Mayor and the other Council Members get a copy of this also?
Thank you. Karen Kuhle)
Dear Mayor Buol and Council Members:
I just read in the paper about the odd/even parking possibly being
implemented from November 15 to March 15 regards of the weather. I live at 2662
Central Avenue and have for 35 years. I oppose this implementation very much.
While it is annoying when people don't move their cars on snow removal days, it
would be much more annoying to have to try to fight for parking every day
for four months. Off-street parking is very limited on Central Avenue. We
have a driveway for my husband's truck, but not for my car. There are several
duplexes on Central Avenue which means multiple vehicles. How is everyone
supposed to park on one side of the street every other day? What about on
holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas day when people get
company? Where are they supposed to park?
As I stated earlier, I have lived in our home on Central for 35 years and of
those 35 years there have only been a few as bad as we had this year. I
beg of you that you reconsider making this mandatory regardless of the weather.
This would be a very big inconvenience for everyone living on Central with
the limited offstreet parking.
Perhaps instead of parking tickets alone, the vehicles should be towed at
the owners expense. That would make people think a little more about moving
their cars.
Again, please reconsider this proposal.

Subject: re: odd-even snow parking ordinance
Dear Mayor Roy Buol:
Please reconsider and reverse your vote concerning the odd-even snow parking ordinance from
November through March because of the following reasons:
1. In our case this ordinance would be taking away 237 feet of our parking every other day for four
months of the year.
2. In our case there is no parking on the other side of the street, thus we would have to walk for blocks
to find a parking spot. This is an undue burden and a devaluing of our property.
3. In our case our sidewalk abuts the curb, thus the plowing of the snow curb-to-curb attempts to push
the snow from one half of the street onto the eight inch curb. This is a total impossibility, which results in
the snow, ice and slush ending upon our freshly shoveled sidewalk. This makes maintaining our sidewalk
free of snow and ice an impossibility.
Do not inconvenience people more than is necessary, some years it does not even snow.
Perhaps, for notification, you could consider an automated phone call to homeowners along the snow
routes the day before plowing if they are complaining that they did not get notified of the city's plowing
intentions.
Thank you,
James R. Mai

SUBJECT: Proposed Snow Route Parking Policy
DATE: May 28, 2007
I would like to address the Council in regards to the above policy. If this new
proposal is put into effect it will have major ramifications on both my business
and my wifes. W e own a hair salon at 2408 Central that has no off-street
parking. We only have a few on-street spots available and this past winter, with
so many snow days, we lost slot of business because clients could not find a
place to park. If this new policy is passed, a business that has been there over GO
years will have to close. The one apartment above the salon also will be a serious
problem. We have rental properties (apartment buildings) on University and
Hill street with minimum parking, this will make it very difficult to rent these
units. There is businesses and rental property all along these snow routes that
will be seriously affected if this policy passes. I'd appreciate your time on this
matter.
