When you appointed me I had one part-time job. At the end of February I began working a second part-time job, where I hope to remain for the next few years. I also have ongoing obligations related to a health issue in my family. These factors combine to reduce the time I have available for meetings, hearings, and tests, which during my short tenure were frequent. I enjoyed working with Mr. Duehr, Mr. Kluesner, and the City staff, and I remain interested in supporting the City's commitment to professionalism and fairness. Balancing those elements is a challenge that requires respect and concern, which have in abundance, for the managers and for the people they supervise. I love Dubuque, and feel fortunate to have worked for the City for so many years. We have a wealth of excellent employees, who contribute to the planning and execute the vision, which make Dubuque America's City. I appreciate that you entrusted me with an opportunity to remain involved in that process. I have promised one of my employers that I will stay with them until November to assist with staffing levels. At that time I intend to resume working one part-time job. When another opening occurs on the Civil Service Commission, if my schedule permits me to devote the required time and I reapply, I hope that you will consider me again. Respectfully submitted, ~.r .~~ Paula Gieseman
