ARTS AND CULTURAL AFFAIRS ADVISORY COMMISSION
SPECIAL SESSION
Monday, June 30, 2008, 4:30 p.m.
ICN Room, Carnegie Stout Public Library
360 W. 11t" Street, Dubuque, Iowa
Meeting was called to order at 4:35 p.m. following staff assurance of
compliance with the Iowa Open Meeting Law.
Commissioners present: Amy Weber, Ellen Henkels, Paul Kohl, Louise Kames,
Sue Riedel, Geri Shafer.
Staff Present: Jerelyn O'Connor.
NEW BUSINESS:
Commission Policy Statement regarding the Curtis Collection.
Commissioners Kames and Shafer presented background information to the
Commission about the Curtis Collection and about the importance of preserving
that collection for the Dubuque community. Commission also discussed their
advisory role with the City Council and the connection with the City's cultural arts
goals. Motion by Henkels, second by Riedel to submit a policy statement to the
city council recommending that the Curtis Collection remain in Dubuque as one
of Dubuque's historical and cultural treasures. Chairperson Kames will attend
the July 7 City Council Meeting.
Motion to adjourn by Riedel, second by Henkels. Approved 6-0. Meeting
adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
