PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Irish heritage of the Dubuque area is an important part of the
community’s character and identity; and
WHEREAS, an Irish Hooley is a traditional evening of music, song and dance that
for generations was the highlight of Irish social life; and

WHEREASthe 4 Annual Irish Holley is sponsored by Premier Bank and the
,
Irish Hooley Committee as a benefit for Hospice of Dubuque,
Claddagh Irish Dancers, and the Dubuqueland Irish for future Irish
culture events in Dubuque and will be held from 12 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
on August 23, 2008, at the Alliant Amphitheater at the Dubuque Star
Brewery.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO
HEREBY PROCLAIM AUGUST 23, 2008, AS
“IRISH HOOLEY DAY”
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND CALL UPON THE PEOPLE OF THE
DUBUQUE AREA TO SUPPORT THIS EVENT.
