Discussion The Council has previously approved the sale of the 9-unit apartment building at 1126 White Street, for conversion to owner-occupied condominiums. Doug Horsfall expects to commence construction on this $700 000 project within the next 30 days. As part of this project, the Housing Department purchased a vacant, derelict building adjacent, at the rear alley, and had it demolished. This acquisition was approved by Council in November 06. The resulting small - 38 x 51-foot -lot will provide necessary parking for condo residents. The five condos will have a total of 10off-street parking spaces: five in garages and five surface spaces on the vacant lot. This parking is an essential amenity for the marketing of the $100 000+ condos in this densely-built neighborhood. Action Step The action requested of the City Council is to approve the attached resolution, authorizing the sale of the vacant lot at 141 East 11th Street to Horsfall Inc. RESOLUTION NO. 283-08 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SALE OF REAL ESTATE LOCATED AT 141 EAST 11TH STREET, IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE WHEREAS, the City acquired the property at 141 East 11th Street for the purpose of its redevelopment and re-use for owner-occupied housing; and WHEREAS, such purpose supports the Washington Neighborhood revitalization strategy as approved by the City Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: Section 1. That the City of Dubuque hereby approves the sale of the following legally-described property: Lot One (1) of Lot Two (2) and Lot Two (2) of Lot Two (2) of the South One-fifth (1/5) of City Lot 480 in the City of Dubuque, Iowa, Dubuque County, according to the United States Commissioners' Map and the recorded plats thereof, subject to easements of record At the cost of One dollar ($1.00). Section 2. That the City be and is hereby authorized to provide a Special Warranty Deed to the buyer, conveying the City's interest to Horsfall Inc for the herein described real estate. Section 3. That the City Clerk be and she is hereby authorized and directed to cause said Special Warranty Deed to be recorded in the Office of the Dubuque County Recorder, together with certified copy of the Resolution. Section 4. That the City Clerk be and she is hereby directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to the Dubuque County Assessor and the Dubuque County Auditor.
