I ~ ~ 0 City i~l.~,~~~,'~.; Jfice C~~!~t~~~,~~~, I;~ As you may be aware, Ramona and Pamela Court are deteriorating rapidly due to failure of the concrete and expansion joints. I have called the city engineers office several times on this matter. I was told that a sample of the street was sent to Ames for testing and it was determined that the cement was defective. This deterioration is causing pot holes every 10 yazds on the street. As you can imagine this is taking a toll on our vehicles. I have attached a petition asking that street funds be reallocated to cover the additional cost associated with fixing this problem correctly at no additional cost to the home owners. In the short term, we request the city fill the expansion joints until the long term repairs or total replacement can be made next spring. For your reL:,.;,..ce I have also, attached a few photos for you review. The street is aYY~..ximately 10 or 11 yeazs old and should be in excellent shape for many decades. Surely the contractor (Horsfield) and or the concrete provider was bonded and should be held responsible. Many neighbors paid their assessment in good faith knowing they would benefit fi~~ a new concrete street. Crrinding the street down and laying asphalt will not solve the problem. The base/foundation will continue to deteriorate. As well as the residents having been assessed for a concrete street not an asphalt street.
