Proclamation Homes for AgingPROCLAMATION WHEREAS: May 12 through 18, 2002 has been designated as "Homes for the Aging Week"; and WHEREAS: The Iowa Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (IAHSA), in collaboration with its local not-for-profit members, Stonehill Franciscan Services and Luther Manor, has selected Share the Spirit: A Celebration of Age" as the theme for "Homes for the Aging Week"; and WHEREAS: the citizens of the City of Dubuque recognize the many residents, volunteers and employees of not-for-profit nursing homes and senior housing communities, and we appreciate their generous contributions to our community; and WHEREAS: The affiliates of IAHSA are dedicated to the development of care and services for elderly persons, to help the elderly live as independently as possible. NOW, THEREFORE: I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA DO HEREBY PROCLAIM MAY 12 - 18, 2002 AS: "HOMES FOR THE AGING WEEK" in the City of Dubuque, Iowa. I further urge citizens of this community to honor and celebrate this special event with the good people who operate Stonehill Franciscan Services and Luther Manor for-people, not-for-profit.
