Minutes_Cable TV Commission 1 4 17 MINUTES OF CABLE TV COMMISSION MEETING January 4, 2017 CITY HALL ANNEX — 1 st FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM #1 MEMBERS PRESENT: Jennifer Tigges (Chair), Kathy McMullen (Vice-Chair), Ron Tigges, Mark Dolson, Pauline Maloney, Sr. Carol Hoverman. MEMBERS ABSENT: Alan Vincent. OTHERS PRESENT: Craig Nowack, City of Dubuque Jim Barefoot, Mediacom JTigges called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. RTigges arrived at 4:02 p.m. Acceptance of the Agenda Upon a motion by Hoverman, seconded by McMullen, the agenda was approved 5 - 0. Approval of the Minutes of December 7, 2016 Upon a motion by Maloney, seconded by Dolson, minutes of the December 7, 2016, meeting were approved 5 - 0. Election of Officers JTigges moved to nominate Hoverman as Chair. The motion was seconded by Maloney and approved 6— 0. Hoverman moved to nominate Dolson as Vice-Chair. That motion was seconded by Maloney and approved 6 —0. Public Input Dolson reported that he was among a group of engineers at John Deere who are independently organizing to offer outreach to local students in the areas of robotics and engineering. He asked for direction on video recording some of the hands-on workshops they hope to hold to reach more students by playing the videos in classrooms. JTigges, RTigges, Barefoot, and Nowack provided various suggestions. City Clerk Visit Nowack noted that City Clerk Kevin Firnstahl is scheduled for the May 3, 2017, meeting. This comes in response to last month's request to have him address the Commission about rules and procedures relating to activities of boards and commissions. Mediacom Cable Report Barefoot reported on some UPS equipment failures following a recent power outage at the Mediacom building. He also said that there has been a request from a local public school teacher about possibly recording some video in the Mediacom public access studio and that he will be contacting the DCSD access channel producers about this. Cable TV Report Nowack reported that he and Video Producer Erich Moeller are getting more comfortable using the new HD equipment for broadcasting City Council meetings. At last night's meeting he made some recordings of individual cameras for use in the upcoming Cable budget presentation. He also provided an update on recent ICMA-related programming and upcoming productions. He noted that five new From the Archives programs will premiere in calendar 2017 and the same number will premiere in 2018. He hopes to have a funding request for new editing computers on the February agenda. Lastly, he noted the recent passing of former Cable TV staff person Doug McCallum. 1 Adjournment Upon a motion by RTigges, seconded by Dolson, the meeting was adjourned at 4:23 p.m. 2
