Nays -None. Dubuque, Iowa, August 19, 1950 To Whom It May Concern: We are home owners at 2443 Asbury Road, hereby file an objec- tion to special assessment, in pay- ment fm• the recently installed driveway in front of our residence, This driveway is so steep that it is impossible to get a car in or out without dragging on the bot- tom, or catching bumpers, and this can lead to nothing but car repair bills. It is oui• firm opinion, that moving the sidewalk to any posi- tion isn't going to make the drive- way any less steep, and that is where all the trouble lies. We very strongly object to paying an assessment for something that has actually devalued our property in- stead of improving it. Yours truly, James D, and Margaret M. Whit- field, 2443 Asbury Road. Councilman Austin moved that the petition be received and made a matter of record. Seconded by Councilman Kolb. Carried by the following vote: Yeas -Mayor Welu, Council men Austin, Kolb, Russo. The installation of a sewer on Thomas Place at this time is Im- practicable because of the presence of rock. Wynes, I was requested to ascer- tain the attitude of the federal air- pol•t authorities on the subject. Upon inquiry, I have been in• formed by the Civil Aeronautics Administl•ation that it is the uni- form policy of that agency to re- quire that a municipal airport con- structed by federal funds be de- signated as the municipal airport of the city served. In line with this policy, the agreement of the city with the United States (Reso• lotion No. 16.44) far the develop- ment, opel•ation and maintenance of our airport identifies it as The Dubuque Municipal Airport. My findings indicate that t h e proposal to rename the airport will not meet with the approval of the federal authorities. Respectfully submitted, A. A.
