WHEREAS: local nonprofit organizations enhance the quality of life of the residents of
the City of Dubuque and surrounding communities throughout Northeast
Iowa; and
WHEREAS, Great Give Day is a 24-hour, online giving day established by the
Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque in 2014 to celebrate and
support local nonprofits and build a stronger community; and
WHEREAS, since 2014, the annual event has raised nearly $900,000 into Northeast
Iowa nonprofits, providing much-needed operational support to address
basic human needs, child development, education, environment, the arts,
and other essential community needs; and
WHEREAS, we invite all community members to visit GreatGiveDay.org on Thursday,
May 11, 2017 to support 150 participating nonprofits and the good work
they do in Northeast Iowa.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO
HEREBY PROCLAIM THE 11T" DAY OF MAY, 2017, AS
"GREAT GIVE DAY"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have
hereunto set my hand and caused the
