Leisure Services Manager Marie Ware is transmitting information on the Leisure
Services new Rec -n- Roll events trailer which will be seen around town this summer.
In FY 2017, the Leisure Services Recreation Budget was approved for an improvement
level package for $16,070 to purchase and supply a mobile event trailer. The
improvement level included the costs for a trailer, Imagination Playground kit, generator,
and other equipment. A second improvement level package was also approved for
$4,000 to purchase a commercial grade inflatable movie screen. This would also be
kept as part of the trailer equipment.

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memo is to update you on the Leisure Services' new Rec -n- Roll
events trailer which will be seen around town this summer.
BACKGROUND
In FY 2017, the Leisure Services Recreation Budget was approved for an improvement
level package for $16,070 (10034100-71328) to purchase and supply a mobile event
trailer. The improvement level included the costs for a trailer, Imagination Playground
kit, generator, and other equipment. A second improvement level package was also
approved for $4,000 (10034100-71550) to purchase a commercial grade inflatable
movie screen. This would also be kept as part of the trailer equipment.
DISCUSSION
The Rec -n- Roll trailer is ready to go for the summer of 2017. It will be utilized to
provide additional programs and events throughout the community. Beyond programs
and events, this trailer will be a mobile information/registration station and community
engagement tool.
There are many barriers which hinder residents from participating in our programs and
services. These can be transportation, cost, location, lack of information, etc. This
trailer will help to minimize those barriers and increase a more equitable delivery of
service through a front door approach.
The trailer has already been scheduled for 14 dates this summer. Examples of these
events include Movies in the Park, Street Game Block Parties with the COP's, Imagine
Dubuque, playgrounds program and neighborhood special events. Due to the mobility
and multi-use that this trailer provides the department, staff has the flexibility to add
more events or community drop-ins throughout the outdoor months.
