Personnel Manager Randy Peck recommends City Council approval of the workers
compensation excess insurance renewal rate of $.2138 per $100 of payroll submitted by
Safety National, our current carrier, effective July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018, for a
total estimated annual premium of $91,453.

approval.

Cottingham & Butler has presented the workers compensation excess insurance
renewal for coverage effective July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018. Quotes were
received from Safety National, our current carrier, and Midwest Employers Casualty.
The following is a summary of their quotes:

• Safety National - $91,453 (estimated annual premium)
• Midwest Employers Casualty - $125,000 (estimated annual premium)
Safety National proposes to keep their current rate of$.2138 per $100 of payroll. The
current estimated annual premium is $90,581. The increase in the estimated annual
premium is due to the increase in the annual payroll. j
The requested action is for the City Council to pass a motion approving the renewal rate
of$.2138 per$100 of payroll submitted by Safety National, effective July 1, 2017
through June 30, 2018, for a total estimated annual premium of$91,453.
