sustain an affirming community for LGBTQ+ members and families. The Multicultural
Family Center was awarded the LGBTQ+ Pride Award for Community Service and
Advocacy. A representative from Co Dubuque will present the award.

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memo is to inform you that the Multicultural Family Center was
awarded the LGBTQ+ Pride Award for Community Service and Advocacy on Thursday,
June 11 th. A representative will be at the City Council meeting to re-present the award.
DISCUSSION
Co Dubuque is a community network of passionate people who want to catalyze and
sustain an affirming community for LGBTQ+ members and families. Co Dubuque
catalyzes and sustains educational events, socials, affirming experiences, and networks
for the region's diverse LGBTQ+ and ally community. Their goals are to help educate,
advocate, and foster welcoming spaces and support for LGBTQ+ community members
and allies to ensure all people feel safe, informed, and respected.
The MFC mission is empower all families of Dubuque to reach their potential and build
unity out of diversity. In fulfilling this mission, over the last seven years, the MFC has
had several Safe Zone trainings, youth and adult LGBTQ programs, "Those Who Care"
Families and Allies Support Group. In addition, the MFC has helped sponsor Pride
picnics and a Pulse Night Club vigil, in addition to other things.
As of result of these efforts to bring inclusion to Dubuque, the Co Dubuque organization
has chosen the Multicultural Family Center to be the recipient of this award. A
representative will be at the City Council meeting to re-present the LGBTQ+ Pride
Award for Community Service.
