Whereas, the Dubuque County Fair is the largest and longest running family entertainment event in
the county; and
Whereas, the citizens of Dubuque and the surrounding cities have for participants of the County Fair
for 64 years; and
Whereas, the fair continues to bring together family and friends, both rural and urban, in a way that
respects tradition while remaining current; and
Whereas, the strong rural traditions of the community are celebrated in particular with support of the
4-H and FFA Youth as well as volunteers who share generously of their time and talents;
and
Whereas, the Dubuque County Fair, with over 60,000 annual attendees, directly benefits the
community and surrounding area by driving economic development in the region; and
Whereas, local non-profits rely on the fair to generate funds that are cycled into the community to
serve the greater good; and
Whereas, the Dubuque County Fair is among the area's top entertainment value, featuring everything
from creative arts exhibitions, races, the tractor pull and demolition derby, to the many
animals, exhibits, demonstrations, programs grounds entertainment and national music
acts; and
Whereas, the Dubuque County Fair, which many consider the six best days of summer, officially
opens on Tuesday, July 25 and runs through Sunday, July 30, 2017 with this year's theme
of"Follow the Olde Highway Road to the 64th Annual Dubuque County Fair!"
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BOOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF JULY 25
THROUGH JULY 309 2017 AS:
""DUBUQUE COUNTY FAIR WEEK""
AND ENCOURAGE THE PARTICIPATION OF THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and
caused the Great Seal of the City of Dubuque, Iowa, to
be affixed this 17th day of July, 2017.
