City Engineer Gus Psihoyos is recommending acceptance of the construction contract
for the 2017 Asphalt Overlay Access Ramp Project One, as completed by Dan
Arensdorf Construction, in the final contract amount of $30,502.70, which was 3% under
the contract amount of$31,467.20. The average cost per ramp was $2,541.89.
1 concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

INTRODUCTION
The enclosed resolutions provide for the acceptance of the construction contract for the
2017 Asphalt Overlay Access Ramp Project One.
BACKGROUND
The project replaced twelve non-compliant access with compliant, directional ramps as
per Public Right of Way Accessibilities Guidelines (PROWAG) specifications in
conjunction with the Public Works Asphalt Overlay Program and involved the
intersections of:
• Mount Loretta Avenue and Loretto Court—Southeast and Southwest corners
• Mount Loretta Avenue and English Lane—Southeast and Southwest corners
• Mount Loretta Avenue and Esther Street—Southeast and Southwest corners
• Mount Loretta Avenue and Esther Street—Southeast and Southwest corners
• Apple Street and Oak Street—Southeast and Southwest corners
• Burns Street and Oak Street—Southeast and Northeast corners.
DISCUSSION
The 2017 Asphalt Overlay Access Ramp Project One was completed by Dan Arensdorf
Construction of Dubuque, Iowa in the final contract amount of $30,502.70, 3% under the
contract amount of$31,467.20. The average cost per ramp was $2,541.89

RESOLUTION NO. 277-17
ACCEPTING THE 2017 ASPHALT OVERLAY ACCESS RAMPS PROJECT ONE
AND AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF THE CONTRACT AMOUNT TO THE
CONTRACTOR
Whereas, the Public Improvement Contract for the 2017 Asphalt Overlay Access
Ramps Project One (the Project) has been completed and the City Engineer has
examined the work and filed a certificate stating that the Project has been completed
according to the terms of the Public Improvement Contract and that the City Engineer
recommends that the Project be accepted; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. The recommendation of the City Engineer is approved and the Project
is hereby accepted.
Section 2. The Finance Director is hereby directed to pay to the Contractor from
the Curb Ramp Program appropriations and the sidewalk program appropriations for the
contract amount of $30,502.70, Tess any retained percentage provided for therein as
provided in Iowa Code chapter 573, and to pay such retainage only in accordance with
the provisions of Iowa Code chapter 573.
