WHEREAS, the Irish heritage of the Dubuque area is an important part of the
community's character and identity; and
WHEREAS, an Irish Hooley is a traditional evening of music, song, and dance
that for generations is the highlight of Irish social life; and
WHEREAS, the 13th annual Irish Hooley Music Festival is a cultural entity of the
non-profit entity known as the Dubuque Area Committee on Foreign
Relations, and the event is sponsored by Premier Bank, Family Beer
& Liquor, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians & Lady Hibernians, for
the benefit of Irish culture in Dubuque, and for the benefit of
Research For The Kids (RFTK). The 13t" Annual Irish Hooley Music
Festival will be held at Dubuque Star Brewery and Alliant
Amphitheater on Saturday August 26t^ from 12:00 NOON to 10:30
p.m.).
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. O'BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE,
IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE,
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE 26T" DAY OF AUGUST, 2017, AS
"IRISH HOOLEY MUSIC FESTIVAL DAY"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND CALL UPON THE PEOPLE OF THE
DUBUQUE AREA TO SUPPORT THIS EVENT.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have
