Cable TV Coordinator Craig Nowack is recommending approval of the Cable TV
Commission recommendations for funding from the Public, Educational, and
Government (PEG) Capital Grant for Access Equipment and Facilities in the amount of
$10,250 for the City of Dubuque to purchase three HD cameras, three camera batteries,
protective filters and SD media cards.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to forward a recommendation from the Cable TV
Commission for a request for funding from the Capital Grant for Access Equipment and
Facilities.
BACKGROUND
At its meeting on August 2, 2017, the Cable TV Commission approved a request from the City
of Dubuque for$10,250 to purchase three HD cameras, three camera batteries, protective
filters, and SD media cards.
The Capital Grant for Access Equipment and Facilities currently has a balance to be awarded
for$633,563.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
I respectfully request that the Commission's recommendation for this request be forwarded to
the City Council to receive, file, and approve. Thank you.

Provide a general description of what you are requesting and why::This request is to fund three replacement cameras
for the Cable TV Division. Our main three cameras have been used extensively in the past five years for some of the
City's biggest projects. One of our two backup mini-DV cameras has failed, and our rechargeable batteries are also
showing their age. We are requesting funds for three new cameras, six SD cards on which to record the video (two for
each new camera), UV filters to protect the lenses, and one new large battery for each new camera. The cameras being
requested used the same batteries as our previous cameras, so we can continue to use the batteries we have until they
fail to hold a charge.
Describe how the community will benefit from your request::The community will continue to benefit from the
programming we produce using these cameras.
