Red Cross Emergency Resp VehiclMEMORANDUM
June 22, 2002
TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
FROM: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager
SUBJECT: Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle
The local Red Cross assists the Fire Department in several ways, two of which are
providing assistance to families that are misplaced during fires and other emergencies.
They also respond to large long-term incidents and provide food and beverage for the
firefighters and emergency responders at the scene.
The local chapter is currently raising funds to purchase an Emergency Response
Vehicle (ERV). This vehicle will provide them the base to serve meals and provide
assistance, both to the community and emergency responders in their time of need.
Fire Chief Dan Brown is recommending that the City of Dubuque and the Fire
Department support this effort by providing $5,000 towards the purchase of the
Emergency Response Vehicle. This would use left over funds from the Fiscal Year
2002 CIP Fire Department budget.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

I recommend that the City of Dubuque and the Fire Department support this effort by

fiscal year.
