Personnel Manager Randy Peck is recommending approval of an agreement with Dale
Carnegie Training to provide supervisory training for the City of Dubuque.

SUBJECT: Supervisory Training Agreement

I have attached an agreement with Teri Fairchild of Dale Carnegie Training, and the City
of Dubuque to provide training for approximately 150 supervisors. The total cost for the
training program is $64,540. Sufficient funds are available to complete training for 60
supervisors. In Fiscal Years 2010 and 2011 I will propose budgeting $16,270 each year
in order to complete the training for all 150 supervisors. The agreement is worded so
that the training is contingent upon approval of funding. City Attorney Barry Lindahl has
reviewed the agreement and found the terms acceptable. The requested action is for
the City Council to approve a motion authorizing you to sign the agreement.
