Present: President Patty Poggemiller; Christy Monk, Vice -President, Pat Maddux
Secretary; and Trustees, Robert Armstrong, Greg Gorton, and Pam Mullin

• Newly appointed Board of Trustees members, Greg Gorton and Pam Mullin
were sworn in. The annual election of officers took place. Patty Poggemiller
was nominated and voted in as the new President with Christy Monk as Vice -
President and Pat Maddux as Secretary. Robert Armstrong and Rose
Kramer were appointed to the Relations Committee, Pat Maddux and Christy
Monk to the Operations Committee, and Greg Gorton and Pam Mullin to the
Planning Committee. Patty Poggemiller will represent the Board at 28E
Agency meetings and Pat Maddux will represent the Board at Art
Subcommittee meetings. Greg Gorton and Patty Poggemiller will join the
Board of the Library Foundation.
• The Board of Trustees did not meet in July due to the lack of a quorum. The
Board approved expenditures for the past two months at this meeting.
• July experienced Tess use compared to July of 2016 with the exception of
books cataloged for the adult collection, which remained stable and
downloadable materials, which increased 18%. A total of 2,414 youth
participated in the summer reading program with 56% of children completing
the challenge and 55% of teens completing the challenge.
• An evaluation of the collaborative use service with the County Library District
that launched on July 1 was completed. 9% of the use was by Dubuque
residents picking up C -SPL material in Asbury. 18% of the use was by County
residents picking up C -SPL materials in Asbury. The greatest use was by
County residents placing holds and picking up materials at C -SPL — 73%.
Monthly evaluations will continue.
• Budget planning for FY 2019 is underway. We are seeking information on
cost estimates to complete the repair of the building's roof under hang from
which the decorative limestone blocks became loose and fell.

• The Dubuque Museum of Art furnished current appraisals of all library -owned
works of art that are exhibited and stored in the facility. The appraisals total
$22,175,500.
• The Board decided to interview candidates for the position of Marketing
Coordinator as well as hear a presentation by Red Rokk, a company that
specializes in marketing with social media. They can then make a final
decision regarding how marketing efforts will move forward.
• The Library Board of Trustees changed the September meeting to be held a
day early on September 27, and changed the October board meeting to be
held a week earlier on October 19. Changes were made to accommodate
schedules to assure maximum participation. Start time remains 4:00 p.m.
