Giegerich, Albert, Ltr MediacomA letter to the City Council:
I am a former subscriber of the digital cable system. I was
satisfied with the service for a year or so until I was notified
that the price of the service was going to be raised. A few
days later I learned that I was also going to lose my history
and biography channels. I told Mediacom I might have stood
still for the fee increase but when it was accompanied with
the loss of the channels I opted to go back to their basic
package.
I believe the City should seriously investigate the possibility of
furnishing the citizens with a municipal cable company. The
way I see it could be a win, win situation. We would have
probably a large percentage of the people take advantage of
a City owned and managed company. If it is legally possible
to sell bonds to raise start up money I think many would
invest in the project.
I am well pleased with many of the projects that the council
is involved with. Especially the restoration of the beautiful old
buildings on Main and Central and the development of lower
Main St. The river front development is all coming together
nicely. A City owned consumer friendly multiple choice cable
company would be another feather in your caps.
I hope you give it your careful consideration.
