Nature of Claim
Vehicle Damage
This is a claim in which claimant states that as she was driving on Kaufmann Avenue,
wet paint, from street markings, splattered on the driver's side of her vehicle.
According to report of Mike Koch, Public Works Director, this claim relates to the 2002
Pavement Marking Project that was performed by Hamel Parking Lot Service. The
contract between Hamel Parking Lot Service and the City included bonds and insurance,
as well as language stating that the contractor shall hold the City harmless against all
claims arising out of the construction project.
It is therefore the recommendation of Mr. Koch to forward this claim to Hamel Parking Lot
Service. The Legal Department concurs with this recommendation.

Claim Against the City of Dubuque by Paula Deiter
This claim relates to the 2002 Pavement Marking Project that is being done by
Hamel Parking Lot Service. The contract called for the standard form of
contracts and bonds with the City, which require the contractor to hold the City
harmless from any claims of damage resulting from the work.
Therefore, it is the recommendation of the City Engineering Division that this
claim for damages be forwarded to Hamel Parking Lot Service for further
consideration/processing.
