SUBJECT:High Bluff (Stafford to Fengier) Sanitary Sewer Reconstruction
Public Works Director Mike Koch is recommending acceptance of the construction
contract for the High Bluff (Stafford to Fengler) Sanitary Sewer Reconstruction Project,
as completed by Drew Cook & Sons Excavating, Inc., in the final contract amount of
$126,846.09.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

SUBJECT:High Bluff (Stafford to Fengler) Sanitary Sewer Reconstruction
INTRODUCTION
The enclosed resolutions provide for the acceptance of the construction contract
for the High Bluff (Stafford to Fengler) Sanitary Sewer Reconstruction Project.
DISCUSSION
Work has been completed on the project by Drew Cook & Sons Excavating, Inc.,
Dubuque, Iowa, in the final contract amount of $126,846.09.
The project involved the reconstruction of approximately 1,650 feet of sanitary
sewer pipe located in the street. The installation of 8"-diamater sanitary sewer
pipe will provide greater capacity and will alleviate frequent flushing by the sewer
crews.
RECOMMENDATION
I recommend that the City Council accept the improvements and the final
contract be established at $126,846.09.
BUDGET IMPACT
A summary of the budget costs is as follows:

The project will be funded with the Fiscal Year 2002 Sanitary Sewer Fund

The City Council is requested to adopt the attached resolutions accepting the
improvements and establishing the final construction cost.

RESOLUTION NO. 439-02
ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENT
Whereas, the contract for the High Bluff (Stafford to Fengler) Sanitary
Sewer Reconstruction Project has been completed and the City Manager has
examined the work and filed his certificate stating that the same has been
completed according to the terms of the contract, plans and specifications and
recommends its acceptance.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved
and that said improvement be and the same is hereby accepted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Treasurer be and he is hereby
directed to pay to the contractor from the Fiscal Year 2002 Sanitary Sewer Fund
in amount equal to the amount of his contract, less any retained pementage
provided for therein.

RESOLUTION NO. 440-02
FINAL ESTIMATE
Whereas, the contract for the High Bluff (Stafford to Fengler) Sanitary
Sewer Reconstruction Project has been completed and the City Engineer has
submitted his final estimate showing the cost thereof including the cost of
estimates, notices and inspection and all miscellaneous costs.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the cost of'said improvement is hereby determined to
be $145,873.00 and the said amount shall be paid from the Fiscal Year 2002
Sanitary Sewer Fund of the City of Dubuque, Iowa.
