Re: City Council Meeting on Sept. 16
This is a request from the "One Book One Dubuque Committee" of "Faces andVoices, a Cultural
Celebration, scheduled this year from Nov. 1-Nov. 18.
Judy Haley Giesen, chair of the committee would like to be put on the agenda for 3
minutes, to announce the One Book, One Dubuque initiative, an all-city "book club."All citizens in
the city will be encouraged to read "To Kill a Mockingbird;' readily available for lend at the library
and for purchase at River Lights Book Store.
Judy will explain the program to the council on Sept. 16, and "lend" each city council member
the book, to be personally read by them and then passed on to co-workers, or friends. We hope that
the "lent" books will circulate in the community and be read by as many people as possible.
Thanks for placing on the Sept. 16 agenda
