Proof of Publication City Council Proceedings 1 05 09CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS The Dubuque City Coun- cil met in special session at 5:00 p.m. on January 5, 2009, in the Historic Fed- ' eral Building. Present: Mayor Buol, Council Members Braig, Connors, Jones, Lynch, Resnick, Voetberg, City Manager Van Milligen, City Attorney Lindahl Mayor Buol read the call and stated that this was a special meeting of the City Council called for the pur- pose of receiving a City of Dubuque Website Demon- stration. Public Information Officer Randy Gehl provided an overview of the website and demonstrated the lay- out and navigation ele- ments via a live Internet connection. Modules high- lighted included: Notify Me Subscription, Bids and Re- quests for Proposals Postings, Job Postings, On-line Applications/ Forms, Contact Us, Code Red Notification, News Flashes, Events Calendar, Agendas & Minutes, and Online Payments Information Services Manager Chris Kohlmann demonstrated the Citizen Support Center module, which included the How Do I, Service Requests, Frequently Asked Ques- tions, and searching com- ponents of the public side of the website. Kohlmann demonstrated the adminis- trative side of the website, which illustrated staff's ability to manage and up- date the website, gather data and generate reports. The Public Documents component, which in- cludes City Council agen- da documents and ar- chived Official Proceed- ings was also demonstrat- le Franchise Coordi- Craig Nowack dem- rted the video ling and Video on nd components de- ig how citizens can Council meetings in progress via the Internet as well as search past meetings and other City programs. Nowack noted that agenda items can be queued within the video as well as searched. Gehl then answered questions from City Coun- cil and described the mar- keting effort currently un- derway. Gehl noted that an appointed task force se- lected several vendors which provided multiple components to the website. Citizens do get confirmation upon submis- sion of a service request, and links are provided to connect citizens to partnering agencies. A staff directory, including names and phone num- bers, is also a component of the site. Gehl stated that some feedback has been received and an opinion poll is in progress as well as continual updates.
