DUB E Masterpiece on the Mississippi TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members Dubuque AN-AmerlcaCiC1 .~/.~ 2007 FROM: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager SUBJECT: Professional Services for Design of the Iowa 32 Bike/Hike Trail Phase 2 Project DATE: January 26, 2009 A Request for Proposals for professional design services were issued for the Iowa 32 Bike/Hike Trail Phase 2 Project from John F. Kennedy Road to Plaza Drive. Leisure Services Manager Gil Spence is recommending that Buesing and Associates be hired at a cost of $15,441.00. In addition, it is recommended that phase 3 of this trail, from Plaza Drive to Pennsylvania Avenue, be designed at this time and submitted for possible funding through the stimulus money for trail projects. Plans and specifications must be submitted to IDOT by the end of April to be considered. The review committee recommends that this design work be added to Buesing and Associates' contract in the added amount of $24,955. Funding for this would come from CIP project #1021871 - BMX Bike Track. This project is not moving forward because of lack of interest from users. I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council approval. Michael C.
