Dear Mayor Buol and City Council Members,
On behalf of the small business owners of Cable Car Square, I would like to thank the City of Dubuque, and the
snow removal crews that worked tirelessly after the heavy snowfall that hit the weekend before Christmas.
When the snow totals mounted that Friday, the business owners on Cable Car Square began to get anxious. That
weekend is statistically the busiest and most important sales day for retailers and for those of us with small
businesses, that weekend can truly make or break our stores. Clean streets and accessible parking are absolutely
crucial for our survival during the winter season.
Many of our shop owners had customers with Christmas orders to pick up that weekend, and we ail received calls
asking if we were open and, could they get to us? Mid-morning however, like an army of ants the snow removal
crew conquered the mountains of snow that piled up on our streets, curbs and sidewalks. And by early afternoon
the streets were clean as a whistle, parking was accessible and it was back to business as usual for everyone.
Thank you to the gentlemen who work to keep our city moving during these snow-filled winters, and to City of
Dubuque for providing gold plated service when we needed it the most. Hooray for downtown!
Sincerely,
a
,~ ,~~
