Dear City Clerk:
The purpose of this letter is to notify you of the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste
Agency's FY10 fee schedule, which was approved yesterday by the Agency's Board of
Directors. It will go into effect on July 1, 2009. A copy of it is attached. The Agency's
posted tonnage fee, special waste tonnage fee, asbestos waste tonnage fee, and yard
waste tonnage fee will increase by 3.5% in the coming year. Its contract tonnage fee
will increase by 4.4%. However, its tire, appliance, compost and minimum fees will not
change.
The Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency is a 28E partnership of the County
and City of Dubuque. It owns and operates essential public utility infrastructure,
including a municipal solid waste landfill, a yard waste composting facility, a
construction and demolition materials landfill, a household hazardous materials
collection facility, an a-scrap recycling program, and multiple recyclables dropoff
stations. The Agency receives no tax or per capita fee subsidies, relying solely on the
fees charged at its facilities to operate as the not-for-profit, solid waste disposal utility for
Dubuque and Delaware counties. It appreciates your past and future support.
